    The most common choices are to either continue your studies or to take up a job after BTech.

    Higher Studies:

    • MTech after BTech

    MTech is a two-year postgraduate course a student can take up after BTech. IITs are the best choice for students who opt for higher studies after BTech. If you can’t make it, go for the best NITs or state-sponsored universities such as Anna University and Jadavpur University. You need to clear GATE after BTech to get into IITs or NITs.

    • MS abroad after BTech

    This is of two different types. MS by course work and MS by Research

    MS by coursework: This program is suitable for students who wish to take up industrial roles later in their career. Just like MTech, you will get to specialize in your preferred field during this program.

    MS by research: It is a research-oriented masters program engineering students can take up. Here, you read theoretical papers, implement them, come up with unique ideas for your research and publish your paper in reputed journals.

    • MBA in India

    You’ve to write CAT to get into IIMS in the country. One of the IIMs conducts this test every year on a rotation basis. Many major management colleges consider CAT scores for admissions. Top private institutes like Symbiosis institute of management and XLRI conduct their own national level exams for admissions. Other popular entrance tests for MBA admissions are MAT, NMAT, and CMAT.

    • MBA Abroad

    You need to clear IELTS or TOEFL to apply for MBA in reputed universities abroad. Though not a mandatory requirement, most institutes consider GMAT or GRE scores as well for admissions. But you’re more likely to get rejected if you apply right after graduation. Relevant experience is mandatory to get into MBA colleges abroad.

    • Short Term Courses

    Web designing courses, Java and advanced Java framework, BIM, CAD, UI or UX development framework course, DBA-MySQL, etc. are the most popular short term courses after BE/BTech. These courses will take 3-6 months to complete. Engineers also take up courses in digital marketing and SEO.
